Four ways to start with us

Defined scope

Fixed-price project

Requirements are clear and the finish line is known. Milestone-based delivery inside a fixed commercial envelope.

Evolving product

Dedicated team

A ring-fenced squad — engineers, QA and an architect — working to your roadmap on a monthly basis.

Capacity gap

Staff augmentation

Individual specialists embedded into your existing team, your tools and your standups.

Already live

Audit & support retainer

Ongoing review, bug fixing and monitoring for a product in production. Monthly hours, agreed response times.

How we deliver

From idea to production — in four moves.

The same sequence whether we are funding a company or building for a client. Weekly demos, no black boxes, momentum from the first week.

01

Discover

We pressure-test the idea, map the data and the systems, and define what success actually measures.

02

Architect

Architecture, security posture and delivery plan — feasible and durable, not just impressive in a demo.

03

Build

Senior engineers ship working software every week, with your team in the loop at every step.

04

Scale

We harden, monitor and optimize for production — then help you grow the team around it.

Code Audit & Remediation

Independent assessment of software you already own.

Systems that pass acceptance testing routinely fail in production — under real load, real data and real users. We conduct a structured review of the codebase, quantify the risk in business terms, and issue a costed remediation plan your team or ours can execute.

Most production failures are not defects introduced late. They are architectural decisions made early, surfacing under load.

Conditions we are typically engaged to investigate

Intermittent production failures

Faults that cannot be reproduced in staging and resolve without explanation.

Rising regression rate

Each release reintroduces defects previously closed, indicating absent test coverage.

Loss of institutional knowledge

The original engineering team has moved on and the system is undocumented.

Undefined security posture

No dependency inventory, no threat model, and no record of what has been tested.

Progressive performance decay

Response times degrade as data volume grows, requiring routine restarts.

Escalating cost of change

Incremental features take disproportionate effort relative to their scope.

Where two or more of these conditions are present, the cause is usually structural rather than incidental.

Code Audit

A full read of your codebase, ranked by what will actually hurt you.

  • Architecture — layering, coupling, structure
  • Dependency map — what breaks when you touch one thing
  • Debt register — ranked by risk, not by age

Security Review

The holes attackers look for, found before they find them.

  • OWASP Top 10 — injection, XSS, access control
  • Auth & sessions — tokens, expiry, privilege escalation
  • Secrets & CVEs — exposed keys, vulnerable packages

Standards & Maintainability

Can anyone other than the original developer safely change this?

  • Coding standards — structure, naming, linting
  • Test coverage — what is protected, what is not
  • Documentation — setup, environments, runbooks

Performance & Durability

Why it holds on day one and folds on day three.

  • Slow queries — missing indexes, N+1 calls
  • Memory leaks — why it degrades over hours
  • Load behaviour — concurrency, timeouts, caching

Bug Fixing & Stabilisation

Root cause, not another patch stacked on the last one.

  • Defect log — reproducible, with business impact
  • Real fixes — each with a regression test attached
  • Crash triage — from live logs and user reports

Hardening & Handover

You finish able to run it without us.

  • CI/CD — repeatable, reversible releases
  • Monitoring — know it broke before your users do
  • Backup & rollback — a tested way back

The deliverable

A findings report your team can execute against.

Every finding is evidenced, assigned a severity, and expressed in terms of business exposure rather than implementation detail. The document is yours to retain and act on with any engineering partner.

  • Findings ranked by severity, each with evidence
  • A fix plan with effort, sequence and cost
  • Architecture and dependency diagram
  • Security checklist with pass/fail per item
  • A 60-minute walkthrough call with the engineer who did the audit

Illustrative only. Your report reflects your codebase.

Assessment scope — fourteen review areas

  • Architecture, layering and separation of concerns
  • OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and injection surfaces
  • Authentication, authorisation and session handling
  • Secrets, API keys and environment configuration
  • Third-party dependencies — CVEs, licences, abandonment risk
  • Database schema, indexing and query performance
  • Error handling, logging and observability coverage
  • Automated test coverage and CI/CD readiness
  • Scalability, concurrency and load behaviour
  • Coding standards, readability and documentation
  • Front-end performance budgets and Core Web Vitals
  • Deployment, backup and rollback safety
  • Data privacy exposure (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, GDPR)
  • Handover readiness — can a new team take this over?

Engagement sequence

  1. Repository access

Sign the mutual NDA, then give us read-only repository access or a zipped export. No production credentials needed.

  2. Initial technical review

A complimentary 30-minute session covering failure history and observed behaviour. In most cases the probable cause is identified here.

  3. Audit report

Findings ranked critical to low, each with evidence, business impact and a recommended fix.

  4. Remediation plan

Priority sequencing separating immediate risk from deferrable work, each item fixed-priced. No open-ended time and materials billing.

  5. Execution and sign-off

Our engineers carry out the remediation, or your team does and we verify and formally sign off. The choice is yours.

The Founder

Capital plus operator depth.

"What makes Suren unusual as a venture investor is the same thing that made him unusual at Microsoft: he doesn't just bring capital — he brings 25 years of hands-on technical architecture and enterprise delivery."
— SurenMachi.com

From founder to funder

Suren Machiraju spent 25 years at Microsoft — not as a passenger, but as a builder. He arrived at Redmond as a founder whose company Microsoft acquired in 2000. He left as a Group Product Manager overseeing an AI personalization platform serving global enterprise audiences. In between: BizTalk, Windows Server, Azure across Asia-Pacific, and the Vanguard Customer Team reserved for Microsoft's highest-revenue accounts.

Why this matters for founders

When Suren backs a company, he doesn't schedule quarterly board calls. He rolls up his sleeves. Cloud architecture decisions, enterprise go-to-market strategy, integration complexity, compliance frameworks — he has lived all of it. Founders who work with Maarg Ventures gain access to a network built across 25 years of Microsoft, Azure, and enterprise delivery at the highest levels.

Beyond the portfolio

Suren serves as Managing Director of WLAAT.org — a nonprofit he runs, not merely supports — focused on technology literacy for women in liberal arts. He is an elected committee member for the City of Laguna Beach. And he spent nine years making hot lunches for women at a shelter in Seattle. That operating discipline — doing the unglamorous work, year after year — is what he brings to every company in the portfolio.

Investment Thesis

Where we invest — and why.

We focus on three intersecting vectors where technical complexity creates durable competitive moats and enterprise adoption is inevitable.

Web3 & Blockchain Infrastructure

We back companies building the infrastructure layer — tokenization, DeFi protocols, and blockchain-native enterprise rails. Real yield. Institutional-grade architecture. Not speculation.

  • Real-world asset tokenization — on-chain ownership of physical assets
  • DeFi infrastructure — yield-generating protocols for institutional capital
  • Enterprise blockchain rails — Ethereum, Solana, and hybrid architectures
  • Compliance-first design — SEC, FinCEN, and cross-border regulatory frameworks

AI-Driven Enterprise Automation

AI that replaces genuine friction in enterprise workflows. We are skeptical of AI wrappers. We back AI that delivers measurable ROI within 90 days of deployment.

  • Document intelligence — AI extraction, classification, and compliance checking
  • Workflow orchestration — end-to-end process automation across enterprise systems
  • Intelligent data pipelines — real-time processing with Azure, AWS, and OpenAI
  • Secure LLM deployment — air-gapped environments for regulated industries

Legacy Modernization Platforms

Enterprises running aging platforms with known sunset dates need a trusted migration partner — one who brings deep technical depth, not just consulting overhead, and AI to de-risk every step.

  • OpenCLAW AI — map conversion and orchestration rebuild in days not weeks
  • AI-assisted de-risking — dependency mapping and edge case detection pre-cutover
  • Secure LLM environment — production data never leaves your perimeter
  • Platform-agnostic paths — Azure, MuleSoft, Boomi, or custom .NET on your timeline
What we look for
Technical founders who have shipped in production environments
Enterprise-grade architecture from day one, not bolted on later
Real market pull — a problem enterprises already budget to solve
Compliance-aware design in regulated industries (HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI-DSS)

Questions

Before you share a codebase.

How long does an audit take?
Most take three to five business days from the moment we have access. Larger or multi-service codebases take longer, and we tell you the timeline before you commit, not after.
Do I have to give you production access?
No. Read-only repository access or a zipped export is enough. We never need live database credentials or customer data to run an audit.
What if I just want the bugs fixed, not a full audit?
That is fine, and often the right call. The free triage call tells us whether the bugs are surface-level or symptoms of something structural. If it is the former, we quote the fixes directly and skip the audit.
Will you work with my existing developer?
Yes, and we prefer to. The report is written so your developer can act on it. Plenty of clients have us audit and their own team do the fixing — we re-test and sign off at the end.
What does it cost?
It depends on the size of the codebase, which is why the triage call is free. You leave that call with a fixed quote for the audit and a rough range for the fixes. No hourly meter running in the background.
Which technologies do you cover?
.NET, Java, Node.js, Python, PHP, React, Next.js, Angular, Vue, React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin, WordPress and Shopify builds, plus Azure, AWS and GCP infrastructure. If your stack is not listed, ask — we will tell you honestly whether we are the right people.
Is my code kept confidential?
A mutual NDA is signed before we look at anything. Your code is not reused, not shared, and not used to train anything. Access is revoked the day the engagement closes.
